Dental Insurance, What are Waiting Periods ?
In our prior post about preventive, basic and major services we talked about waiting periods. But are are waiting and how can they effect you?
A waiting period is the length of period (time) that an insurance company will make you wait before they will pay for certain dental services.
Many PPO and Indemnity dental insurance plans policies define a waiting period of six months for basic and 12 months or longer for major dental care. Today you can find some PPO’s and Indemnity dental insurance plans that offer no waiting period. However, they may limit you on the benefits paid out within the first year of the plan.
